Refunds and Cancellation

Cancel in two clicks, and keep what you paid for.

The most common reason a subscription ends badly is that cancelling was made difficult on purpose. It is two clicks here, inside the app, and nobody will ask you to email a retention team on the way out.

In short

Cancel from Settings → Billing whenever you like. The days you already paid for keep running, and you can change your mind inside them. We do not usually refund a period you have already used, but we will always refund a charge that was our mistake or one you never got the use of — just write to us.

01

The trial comes first

Every new household gets 60 days of the complete product before anything is due. That is deliberately long: a budgeting app can only be judged across a full income cycle, and two of them is a fairer test than one.

It exists so that a refund is rarely the conversation. If Ahead is not for you, the best time to find out is while it costs nothing.

02

How to cancel

Sign in, go to Settings → Billing, and choose to cancel. It takes effect immediately as an instruction not to renew.

There is no retention flow, no “are you sure” loop, no offer you have to decline three times, and no requirement to phone or email anybody. If you ever cannot find the button, that is a bug — tell us and we will cancel it for you while we fix it.

03

What happens after you cancel

You keep the period you paid for. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not cut short the month or the year already bought. If you cancel on day three of a paid month, you have the rest of that month.

You can change your mind inside it. Resuming before the period ends puts you back on the same subscription without paying again.

When the paid period does run out, the household is locked, not deleted. You can still sign in, read every screen, take a complete export, and come back and pay. Writing is what stops. Your records are not held hostage.

If you want the data gone as well, delete the household from Settings → Security. That is a real deletion and cannot be undone, so export first.

04

When we refund

The short version: we refund when you did not get what you paid for.

We will refund in full where a charge was taken in error, where you were billed after cancelling, where a duplicate charge went through, or where the service was substantially unusable for a period you had paid for and we could not fix it.

We will usually refund a yearly subscription bought within the last 15 days that you have barely used, pro-rated or in full at our discretion. Somebody who paid for a year on Monday and realised on Wednesday that the app is not for them should not be arguing about it.

We do not usually refund a period you have used. There is a 60-day trial precisely so that decision can be made before any money moves, and a monthly subscription is a small commitment that ends whenever you say so.

A lifetime plan is refundable for 15 days from the day it is paid, in full, for any reason. It is the largest single payment anybody makes here and the one with no renewal to simply stop, so it gets the clearest window on this page rather than the vaguest. After that it is treated like any other period you have used, except on a wind-down — see clause 7. There is nothing to cancel either way: a lifetime plan does not renew.

None of this limits your rights under Indian consumer law, which apply whatever this page says.

05

How to ask, and how long it takes

Email [email protected] from the address on the account, and say which charge you mean. You do not need to justify yourself at length — the invoice number or the date and amount is enough.

We answer within three working days. Refunds are processed by hand through our payment provider once agreed, usually the same day we agree them, and the money then takes as long as your bank takes — typically five to seven working days for a card, sometimes longer.

A refund goes back to the method it was paid with. We cannot send it somewhere else, and we will not offer credit instead of money unless you ask for it.

06

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, nothing happens immediately. There is a grace period of 15 days, we email you about it, and everything keeps working while you sort it out.

If it is still unpaid at the end of that, the household locks — read, export and billing all still work — and pays no further charges until you choose to restart. We do not accumulate arrears for the locked period and bill you for it later.

07

If we close the service

If Ahead ever shuts down, we will give reasonable notice, refund any period you have paid for and will not receive, and keep the export working until the last day. Nobody will be left discovering it from an error page.

A lifetime plan has no period to be part-way through, so it gets a schedule instead. The price is treated as paying for 5 years of the product. If it is discontinued before those are up, the years not delivered are refunded — a fifth of the price for each, rounded up to the whole rupee in your favour.

In the first year₹4,999 — all of it
In the second year₹4,000
In the third year₹3,000
In the fourth year₹2,000
In the fifth year₹1,000
After 5 yearsNothing owed

Two things worth saying plainly about that table. It ends: after 5 years the plan has delivered more than it was priced against, and nothing is owed. And it is a step down by whole years rather than a cut-off, on purpose — a policy that paid in full at four years and eleven months and half as much a month later would be a worse deal for one person than for another over one day’s difference.

This policy forms part of the Terms of Service and is dated 22 September 2026.
