Getting your data out, and back in
Settings → Household → Export everything downloads all your data as spreadsheets. Import reads an Ahead export back in, and never removes anything.
Downloading your data
In Settings
- Open Settings → Household.
- Under Your data, next to Export everything, press Download.
You get a zip file of spreadsheets (CSV files): accounts, transactions, categories, budget months, loans, payees and wishlist. Excel and Google Sheets can open them.
Reading an export back in
Import a budget, below it, reads an Ahead export back in: one you downloaded before, or one from another Ahead account.
In Settings → Household
- Next to Import a budget, press Import.
- Choose the zip file you downloaded.
- Ahead shows what would change before it writes anything. If a row is different in Ahead and in the file, choose Keep what is in Ahead or Take what is in the file.
- Press the Import button at the bottom. It says how many rows it will add or change.
Nothing is ever removed. Rows already in Ahead are recognised, so importing the same file twice adds nothing the second time.
